Need Keyword Niche Finders?
Today I want to be right upfront and let you know that I’m “selling” something. (What a shock! LOL However, ‘actively’ selling something is a different animal than ‘passively’ selling something)
Here’s the deal, though… I’m hoping to weave in a little lesson about Marketing’s twin sister, Selling.
Marketing is about getting the word out… about YOU, about your PRODUCT, about your SERVICE, about how people can BENEFIT from hooking up with any or all of that. It’s about getting word out and BRANDING yourself.
Once you’ve done that effectively then you’ve got to send folks someplace… be it local or virtual, someplace to convert that awareness of you, your product, your service… into a sale. And that, my friend, requires selling! And in order to sell well, you need to hone the ability to speak and listen with an ear to the prospective customers needs and desires.
Whether it’s the words you speak when talking one on one with people or the words in the copy on your salespage, the important thing… if your goal is to make a sale… is to ferret out what they want, and what they NEED and WHY!
Oh certainly, product knowledge is good. Knowing how to qualify a prospect is good. Educating a customer is good. Giving a nice, solid presentation is good. And of couse, closing a sale is good. But I guarantee your number one question better be “What do you need and why do you need it?” if you are to ensure yourself of a sale with a happy customer likely to return and/or recommend you and your product.
You see, if you’ve done your marketing well, then you have already attracted a very likely customer who is interested in something you offer. Wouldn’t it be nice to know (and far more likely to leave you with a satisfied customer) what exactly they need so you can put your time and energy, as well as theirs, into making that decision easy for them?
The author of The Wizard of Ads, Roy H. Williams, talking before a group of stuffy English diamond dealers said, “people don’t buy diamonds for clarity, cut, color, or weight. They buy diamonds to see the reaction on their friends faces.”
The diamond dealers were aghast at such heresy. Convinced people were only interested in clarity, cut, color, and weight. Williams gave a dramatic pause. Then he deviously twisted the knife into the crusty old group a little deeper. “And that thinking, ladies and gentlemen, is why England sells fewer diamonds than any other country in the world.”
You would be very wise to heed this story. Think of it like this… whatever it is you sell, that is the diamond. Your number one priority is to discover the “reaction” your customers need to see.
Here comes the sales pitch —–>
If you are someone who is (or wants to be) making money from home on your computer you have most likely heard the buzz about marketing to specific niches. If that interests you, I have a couple of brilliant friends who have just launched something you may want to get your hands on!
Perhaps you’ve read several reports about how you can earn great money with affiliate marketing… maybe you’ve even paid for a course or two. There are several great courses out there… for instance, I frequently recommend Pot Pie Girls One Week Marketing Course and will absolutely continue to do so. The trouble is, while this is a fantastic course… like much of the advice it tells you to go out and research a niche, find some great keywords and start promoting a product.
That can leave many of us bewildered and over-whelmed to the point where we may take some action but spin our wheels around taking the action that really brings in the money. We resist writing the articles, don’t know what to put in the squidoo lens, and scratch our heads over what we could possibly blog about.
Here’s exciting news — someone who actually ENJOYS all of those steps, knows exactly what they’re doing and has done all of that work FOR YOU and boxed it up nice and tidy so all you have to do is go publish it!!! And you won’t believe the low price point for their Keyword Niche Finders Kits!!!
So really… if you’re ready to start earning money and to be able to say, “I told you so” to all those well-meaning friends and loved ones who think you’re chasing rainbows then why not save yourself tons of time and aggravation by purchasing one (or all) of these kits and start selling to people that are ALREADY SEARCHING and READY TO BUY in the niche’s available today.

How to market with an hour a day
Whether you’re working your home business while holding down a full-time job or just starting out or your a seasoned pro with a home-based business… your marketing success is critical to bringing in the cash.
There are so many voices on the ‘net telling us “How to make money” with the latest greatest tools that it can quickly make your head spin and drive us into a very non-productive tailspin… or even paralysis! That’s why today I want to talk about some time management and and offer some clarity about what ‘marketing your business’ entails. A plan that you can act on today!
I’m going to share the top five things I’ve learned that you want to consider if you are building a successful business from home on the Internet.
1. Your Business Foundation
When talking about marketing your business you HAVE to have a place to bring traffic. You need a landing page. In other words… you have a URL that you share with people and when they click, they land on a page that gives people a clear idea of you and your business. Ideally, it has a compelling headline, some pictures, testimonials, an audio or video and ABSOLUTELY… a place for them to leave their contact information. (You know, one of those boxes where they enter at least their name and email in order to receive more information from you).
Which is why you also need an autoresponder. Yes, a good one is going to cost you a little bit of money every month, but if you’re serious about making money with your business you want to find a way to keep developing that relationship with your potential customers and clients.
And finally, you must have a business website. You can do a lot of things on your business website but at a minimum you have to have a place for them to purchase what you are offering.
These three things are the foundation of your business… you will need them to succeed.
2. Your Marketing Portfolio
Your marketing portfolio consists of the platforms and places where you find the people to bring to your landing page. For those of you just starting out (as the others hardly need to be reminded), there are SO many choices when it comes to tools, techniques, platforms, etc. that you will lose precious money-producing time if you explore them all or spread yourself too thin. Believe me, I know this from personal experience as well as observation! I’ve used over 200 platforms… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. So… how do you choose?
Here’s the thing… people have their preferences but at some point you simply have to make a decision and BEGIN! I recommend you limit yourself to 5 platforms for your business. Don’t spread yourself too thin! Here are the 5 I use and recommend… frankly, the first 3 I consider MUSTS… the last 2 there is some variety of choices that make them a bit negotiable. (Today I use a few more but I would not recommend anyone start out that way) –
- LinkIn
- Blogger
- YouTube
The reasons for these five are many and each could easily fill several blog posts so for now… just know that for a beginner, especially one working on a shoestring budget, these 5 free platforms will bring you the people and orders you’re looking for!
3. Your Purpose
Okay…I confess, when I started this journey to making money online many years ago I totally lacked clarity of purpose. Here’s the thing… it cost me LOTS of time that you don’t need to waste. Heck, I have a tendency to complicate things so I was making way too big an issue out of this and really, it hurt me.
The good news is that it’s never too late to get clear about your purpose and if you have that upfront you will be on a far faster curve than I was.
I have learned that 99% of the people using these platforms for their business (in theory) real have no clear understanding of why they are marketing there. To move toward success you must be crystal clear about your purpose. I’ll give you an example that I hope will serve you in understanding how simple, yet important this is… what follows are four statements (four goals you might say) that define my purpose in using these platforms:
- I am connecting with new and interesting people every day
- I am looking for people needing free help around making money from home
- I am offering tips and strategies to those looking for my help
- I am allowing these people to get to know me
Really… that’s it, that’s all. Notice that my purpose in using these platforms is NOT ‘to make money’. You do not want to be selling anything directly on these platforms. They provide you with a place to find and get into relationship with those who are looking for what you have to offer but they are simply a step in the direction of your bottom line.
That said… be mindful that you want to stick to a specific time frame when using these platforms. They are capable of sucking us in and causing us to lose days of more income-producing productivity. That’s NOT to say you can’t spend personal time with these platforms… just be clear that when your “working” you have a different purpose than when your “playing”.
Don’t let the ‘experts’ intimidate you and just be yourself.
4. Launching your ONE HOUR system
Here’s how I schedule my time. When I’m being sensible I actually use a minute timer… it helps A LOT. (And truth be told… I’m not always that sensible LOL)
Twitter - 10 minutes
Facebook - 15 minutes
LinkedIn - 10-15 minutes
Blogging and YouTube - I rotate these from one day to another - 20 minutes
There you have it… that’s about 60 minutes a day. Naturally time can get away from you and it’s your job to decide how much of your day is spent on these efforts but I can tell you that consistently putting in an hour a day will build you a successful business from home by bringing traffic to your sites. Here’s an idea of the tasks I include with the minutes listed above.
At twitter I use tools that allow me to receive alerts when someone is talking directly to me (which is clear either because it arrives as a Direct Message or is publicly posted with the @ sign before your chosen name). The first thing I do at twitter is respond to those messages. I also use tweetlater.com which allows me to set up tweets to go out at various times of day. Also, I start following at least 25 new people a week. There are tools that allow me to search members based on keywords and I will often select new people based on that but more often I start connecting with others based on recommendations from the people I follow. Note: follow people back… it’s valuable to keep your follower to following ratio close.
On Facebook there are 5 tasks I do in those 15 minutes.
- Update status (I try to have my update satisfy one of these three - Inform, Involve, or Inspire)
- Post a link if I have something to share. i.e. new video or blog post or anything else)
- Answer email (do this quickly…mostly involves deleting)
- Accept friend requests
- Write on friends walls - (I usually check to see who is having a birthday and also write on any new friends wall)
Please feel free to add me to your list of friends at Facebook. You can find me here ===>
At LinkedIn the activities are similar to those on Facebook. LinkedIn has been a great place to get linked in on Joint Ventures with people more than anything else. And THAT is very valuable for getting the word out about what you have to offer. Link to me at LinkedIn here ===> http://www.linkedin.com/in/marykw
As far as Blogger and YouTube, they are ways to express yourself either in writing or video. The reason I recommend them is because they are very popular and optimized for the search engines increasing the likelihood that you will attract more people. Only you can discover if you enjoy writing or creating videos or both. Any questions feel free to ask.
5. Your Secret Weapon
Here’s an extra tip… yet something that’s likely to be the most valuable thing in your home business marketing arsenal… and that thing is — PERSISTENCE
Stay the course… even when things seem like they aren’t moving.. I promise you, with persistence, you will be amazed at your results.
Thanks!

Abraham and The World Financial Crisis
You may find today’s post a bit odd for a Home Business Marketing blog. Stay with me here.
I know that the media is constantly yammering on about the “Economic crisis”. And believe me, I understand that many are seeing the ‘hit’ their investments are taking and the focus on that can leave you tempted to despair. I promise you… being in despair will NOT serve your business or your marketing efforts.
That’s why today I want to share with you an entirely different perspective… one that may be eluding you yet if you will give this a listen and some consideration you may decide you have far more to do with creating your OWN SUCCESS than any current reading of the economy would lead you to believe.
It starts with the suggestion that you…
Chill out and go to work. Focus upon the things that are important to you and figure out how to satisfy the details of your life. Stop looking to someone else to solve it and start figuring out how to bring yourself into balance.
Why Tweet Later

- Image via CrunchBase
Because Social Media plays a key role in meeting new people, as well as getting into deeper relationship with the people you have met, I think it could be valuable to discuss some of the tools that interface with the oh so popular twitter.com
One tool that I’ve been appreciating of late is Tweet Later. Tweet Later is one of those tools that really helps you leverage your time… kind of like having your own clone. One of the first things I used tweet later for was to… well… tweet later!
Here’s what I mean…
Because I work from home I have the flexibility to work with my body rhythms rather than the demands of a schedule set by someone else. This means I tend to be awake quite late into the night and sleeping during the early morning hours. That can pose challenges when there are people I want to connect with who are at their most productive earlier in the morning. With Tweet Later I can schedule tweets to go out whenever I choose. So often, before I turn off my computer for the night… I will go to tweet later and write a tweet to be sent out at say, 9:00 AM.
Now… I am be just waking up at 9:00 AM CST but there are a lot of wonderful people moving and shaking long before that hour of the day. Tweet Later gives me the opportunity to let those people know what I’m up to or give them a heads up about an exciting event happening later in the day… or wahtever remarkable thing I want to share. Then, when I get up to my first cup of coffee while the computer is warming up, I can sit down, go to twitter and hit my @replies and Direct Messages to see if anyone has left a comment or question that I might want to follow up on.
That alone is a valuable feature (I was going to say worth it’s cost alone…but since it costs NOTHING that would be a nonsensical statement for something with HUGE VALUE!) But recently, I’ve come to realize that I’m leaving some benefits on the table.
Tweet Later also offers the terrific ability to set up alerts and track keywords in the public Twitter stream. You enter in the keywords you would like the system to track for you and you will receive periodic emails listing tweets that contain those words. Of course, the value of this is that you will be introduced to the people who are talking about things you share an interest in for whatever reason.
There are a couple more features that I have yet to experience… but already I can tell you that Tweet Later has definitely given me the feeling that I CAN be in two places at one time! Give it a whirl!
A Laughing Spirit
Sometimes it’s all too easy to get caught up in the “seriousness” of b u s i n e s s –
If that ever happens to you, it’s valuable to remind yourself that it is all just a game… this can restore lightness to your spirit and improve your outlook. It’s in this spirit that today I’m going to go off on a bit of a different tangent regarding marketing your home business.
When you catch yourself feeling stressed out and starting to take things too seriously… time pressures, money pressures, disappointment or frustration resulting from people failing to follow through on their agreements… Why not take a breath and a moment to look at what is really going on.
Stop yourself in your tracks and take a few moments to review the ’story’ you were just telling yourself.
Now I invite you to imagine that story is not about you… instead it’s a story you’re writing. Of course, you know the main character quite intimately yet you still may be surprised to discover that with a willingness to play with this exercise you can rewrite the story by consulting with this character to discover a different perspective.
In other words… if you were listening to this person and they were asking for your advice, what would your counsel be? What would you advise? Make a suggestion and listen to that first response that pops into your head as though the character in the story had just answered you. (He/She really has ;-)) If that voice is one of agitation spend a moment soothing your character and then dive into discovering what might be discovered by taking a different perspective.
You can approach that in a variety of ways. One of my favorites is to pretend that the story I’ve been telling myself (about all the ’should’ do’s and have to’s and can’t do’s) is actually a novel I’m writing… so I have the full power to make anything happen. This is when it’s time to do some very creative… even outrageous brainstorming and daydreaming about WHAT HAPPENS NEXT and WHERE IT WILL LEAD TO…
Usually by the time I get to that point of my ‘Lighten Up’ break I’m at least smiling… often due to the crazy Super Heroine that flys in to save the day… but hey… I figure there really was power in the Super Heroine or Super Hero because their appearance really has… CHANGED MY DAY!
So for today let me say, the BEST thing for your home marketing business can often be YOU learning to lighten up!
Have a Super Hero filled week!

EXPECT MIRACLES!
A network marketing niche
I remember being totally clueless about just who my ‘market’ was when I first got involved with network marketing. That was before the advent of all the affiliate marketing touted online, filled with it’s talk of ‘niche markets’ and sub-niches and micro-niches, oh my… but essentially, the same question needs to be asked… Just who the heck are you marketing to?!?
Since it was a slow dawn for me I thought I’d take the time to share what a network marketing niche is in simple terms. The whole idea of finding a hungry niche and developing relationships with those people had me baffled and frustrated. Don’t know why that was the case but there you have it… so if you’re already clear about this then clearly, this particular post is NOT for you… carry on.
A niche market is simply a group of people that have some particular demographic in common. Now, that could be age or gender, but for our purposes it would more likely be a hobby, interest, or NEED. Simply stated… it is the group of people that share a need (or desire) for your product or service. Not so complicated is it? The funny thing I’ve noticed about the majority of network marketers… at least new network marketers is that they are initially quite convinced that THEIR product/service is ‘needed’ by EVERYONE and EVERYONE will love it! Not true… and not a good approach to marketing either!
So what is a better approach and how does it apply to my network marketing business? Let’s look at a market within a market… in other words, a sub-niche. Perhaps your large market is women, a sub-niche may be adolescent women, married women, women who are moms, menopausal women.
Network marketing works better when you target a sub-niche… and works best when you target a micro-niche. An example of a micro-niche under the sub-niche’s mentioned above might be adolescent women with acne, or married women interested in reviving their love life, or women who are new moms, or menopausal women who use hormone replacement.
As you may have guessed by now… you can drill down even deeper within any of those and come up with micro-micro-niches, getting closer and closer to the person who truly has a strong need or desire for your product. For instance, the adolescent woman with allergy-triggered acne.
Now… how do we connect with those people? For the sake of keeping this post length reasonable let’s stay with online marketing. (It may trigger an inspired thought or two about where to go in your community in order to do a bit of offline marketing too ;-)) Marketing online consists of sharing information through your writing and when you’re writing using key words that catch the attention of the people likely to need your product.
Using the example above, let’s say you carry an allergen-free skin care product designed to relieve acne. So it would benefit you to start being seen as an ‘authority’ on this topic and solution. The way to do that is to write articles, post about it in your blog, create webpages filled with content about this issue and then gently lead people to the solution you offer. The idea here is to just pick a product or two that your company offers… or one aspect of the service you offer… and speak to the people looking for THAT.
Then you stick around to learn more about how and where to share the links to the information you are making available. That entails both gaining a presence in social online communities to develop relationships and taking advantage of social media sites that get support you getting listed high in the search engines so people who are looking for the information can find the information YOU have to share.
Until then… stay connected!

President Clinton on Network Marketing and Direct Selling
I realize that EVERYONE marketing a business from home is not involved in the network marketing/direct sales industry. Yet I feel that all who work from home share a similar spirit… of independance, of freedom, of entrepreneurship. So I share this message with any and all of you looking to figure out how to best approach home business marketing as inspiration and reminder that we are on the best track EVER!!!
Hashtags on twitter
One of the potential mysteries when you’re new on twitter is what do all the # tags mean.
What are they… and how do you know what to use?
Essentially, they’re simply keywords preceded by a hashtag (also called the pound sign or symbol) And they really help to group and organize conversation by topic. I’ve noticed that they also seem to help create a ‘buzz’ about a topic or event.
Let me explain by giving you an example…
At the moment I’m writing this post, I just heard (via twitter) that there was a plane crash in Denver (plane from Houston was landing and slid off the runway) and I’ll bet… if people are as people are… that if this is BIG news, within the next hour people will be tweeting about #denvercrash. That would be a very good thing because it would allow anyone interested to go to any of a variety of sites, search for the conversations where people are using #denvercrash in their tweet… which, because of the viral nature of twitter, is probably going to include some of the people with cell phones who just survived that crash. They are quickly able to update their friends and family!
Note- I just ‘made up’ that (common sense) keyword and put the hashtag in front of it. I sent out a tweet for a link to a good news source… and before I finished typing this sentence I’ve already received a tweet (with a link to a good news source right out of Denver) back… that was in less than a minute!
That particular hashtag may, or may not take off and be used by others on twitter. And if I go to:
http://search.twitter.com (or http://summize.com)
And type in denvercrash or #denvercrash these sites will bring up every tweet that includes #denvercrash (note: summize.com aka search.twitter.com is my favorite search site for finding trending topics and you can enter any term you want… the tweets will come up with or without the # and if you’re going to use hashtags.org you have to be following @hashtags)
Conceiving a twitter hashtag is something you just decide, you make it up… and assign it to the event or topic. So while the twitter hashtag that I made up may not catch on… someone’s WILL.
Sometimes the hashtag is self expanatory… like #denvercrash lets you know immediately that there was some kind of newsworthy crash in Denver… but was it a plane crash… phenomenal car crash… the specifics aren’t clear. But if you go to one of the sites listed above and do a search on the twitter hashtag you will usually get up to speed quite quickly.
It becomes a bit more challenging when you see a twitter hashtag made up of acronym’s like #TCR. (Which, by the way, stands for a Friday night show at http://twitcastradio.com ). I can promise you that if you don’t get the gist of what’s going on by searching the tweets for the twitter hashtag… just put out a tweet that includes it, ask what it’s about and you will receive a response quickly. Because if people are excited enough to tag their tweet, they’re excited about the topic or event!
From what I hear the whole idea of twitter hashtags started in 2007 during the San Diego forest fires when Nate Ritter used the hashtag “#sandiegofire” to identify his updates related to the disaster.
With so many people, including children, carrying cell phones consider the use of a family twitter hashtag codeword in case of emergencies or urgencies… perhaps for designating a request that everybody meet at a certain place.
They’re also powerful when people are attending events, conferences, meetups, etc. You can quickly search for what people are saying about it… and you’re also going to learn who is saying what, which can be helpful in getting connected with people you’d like to connect with.
Hashtag etiquette on twitter is still evolving. Realize that they are best used sparingly. That said, if you’re going to an event, online OR offline, you might want to toss out a twitter hashtag to get connected and ramp up some interest.
Remember… on twitter we’re limited to 140 characters so brief is best. That also explains the frequent use of acronyms - so if next week you plan to host the WILD and WACKY WEBINAR promote your event as #WWW by letting people know that’s the hashtag you’ve assigned to next weeks event and they can start spreading the news.
Hope this helps… any questions just ask.

These Blogs are Remarkable
Blogs are a great tool of communication… and highly valuable when they are truly, remarkable!
Today I thought I’d share with you some of the blogs that I especially appreciate for the valuable content they share as well as the way that content is delivered. Sometimes it’s the refreshing turn of phrase that keeps me coming back… sometimes it’s the sheer personality shine of the blogger that makes it worth it’s weight in gold… and sometimes, in the most remarkable blogs it’s a brilliant combination of it all!
I’ll be back to update this from time to time to add the new discoveries. And because this blog is about home business marketing I’ll keep this list to blogs that support that endeavor.
~
John Carlton’s Big Damn Blog - A brilliant copywriter who offers a great blend of the business and personal
Internet Marketing for Mommies - Jackie Lee - Chock full of tips, resources and how-to’s from this Mom who successfully works from home

The Marketing Blog of Perry Belcher - simply a ‘Don’t Miss’ if you want clear, practical and concise information about marketing your business online and effectively integrating social media.
~
And that’ll do for now… after all, there are only so many hours in the day for reading blogs… ya gotta do a bit of writing and socializing too!!!
Social Networks WORK!
By now everyone and their brother (sister?) has probably heard Perry Belcher’s take on Making Money using Social Media. I swear it’s like he crawled into my mind and watched the cartoon that is constantly running in the background!
~
He puts it so well that I decided to post it here for those of you who may have missed it, rather than cause you to suffer through my cartoonish translations.
~
I’ve been in the midst of a major move which has really impacted the time I’ve spent on certain tasks… like blogging. But I found it very easy, between emptying boxes and deciding how to make my new space absorb all my worldly goods, to hop on to twitter.com just to connect with other people and see what was going on. It was an amazing experience filled with a wonderful group of clever, caring and generously brilliant people! Blogging for profit
Part of your home business marketing may involve BLOGGING.
What I’m talking about is using blogging to create greater visibility for your home business. It’s a great thing to add to your marketing ‘toolbox’ because it’s an inexpensive (even free) way to share your passion for and expertise around what your business has to offer while helping you drive traffic to your ’sales’ page.
Finding Public Domain stuff
Information Super Highway is an apt description of the World Wide Web… the problem is, the signage isn’t quite up to speed with the available information.
Oh sure, the search engines are getting better at giving us the ‘off ramps’ likely to lead us to the information we desire… and still, it can take a lot of time to learn the best phrase to put into the search engine in the first place. It can take a lot of time to track down enough of the ‘right’ information… not to mention the time we have to spend learning how to apply that information most effectively.
Your Face - Your Brand
How do the people in your life see you?
How would your co-workers, your neighbors, your friends, your family, describe you?
Would you be surprised if those descriptions were very different depending on the group that’s talking about you?
It’s an interesting exercise to go ask a few people to share three words that they feel describe you. Try it… you may be surprised.
I’d like to point out that how they describe you is another way of saying you’ve been ‘branded’ by them in that way.
100 Million Dollar Challenge
In my neighborhood of the online marketing world, everyone and their sister is talking about Russell Brunson’s amazing $100 Million Challenge. And for good reason…
He’s rockin’ the world of Internet Marketing by giving away some amazing and powerful FREE training! Whether you’re newly starting a business from home or you’ve been in the trenches for awhile… you WILL find something to learn here. I can’t recommend it highly enough… and with no cost you simply can’t lose.
What’s Marketing?
With the use of the Internet, home business marketing has become a whole new world… and FAR easier than it ever was before!
Seems the first order of business on a brand new blog about marketing your home business would be to help people make the distinction between SALES… and MARKETING. They’re definitely ‘kissin cousins’ and often lead to confusion. While I don’t necessarily feel it’s critical to your success to be able to distinguish between them, I do find that clarity helps me focus with cleaner energy, giving me far more satisfying results. It just might be the case with you, too.
