Blogging for profit

Part of your home business marketing may involve BLOGGING.

What I’m talking about is using blogging to create greater visibility for your home business. It’s a great thing to add to your marketing ‘toolbox’ because it’s an inexpensive (even free) way to share your passion for and expertise around what your business has to offer while helping you drive traffic to your ’sales’ page.

Let’s distinguish between having a home business and blogging about it… and blogging being your home business.  I was recently talking with someone who, like many, is looking to add an additional income stream to the household. She’s a mom with young children, holding down a part time job and Dad is currently working full time but there is talk at his work about upcoming layoffs. So, while she wants to add to the family’s income, she doesn’t want to be away from her home and children any more than she already is with her part time job.

When I asked what she thought of a home business as an option she told me she found it very confusing.

It turns out she had been doing some searching online and receiving scads of information (no surprise there ;-) ). The problem was… so much of it was conflicting! And she because she didn’t know what she didn’t know, nothing was introduced to her in a single, logical, focused manner. So she was having trouble separating the idea of ‘having a home business and using a blog to share information about it… and actually building a home business by creating niche blogs that would earn the money.

THAT’S why I feel it’s important to point out that they both involve blogging, but are essentially different businesses.

So the ‘lesson’ for today is… if you have a home business, whether it’s a network marketing/mlm business model, or a coaching practice, or any other business… adding a blog to the mix of your marketing is a potentially powerful way to heighten visibility of your services and/or products.

You set up a blog and give it a title that’s short, memorable, and on topic. Remember, you want to attract the people who are looking to solve their problems with your services or products.

When considering what aspect of your business and it’s solutions that you want to focus on sharing, then you might consider doing some research into ‘keywords’. Choosing words that are likely to be searched frequently is always best for blog titles and post titles… and THAT is what makes them so KEY!

Feel free to ask questions you might have about using blogging to market your home business.

In a couple of days I’ll share a bit about blogging AS a home business… until then,

Have FUN and Play well together ;-)
