Because Social Media plays a key role in meeting new people, as well as getting into deeper relationship with the people you have met, I think it could be valuable to discuss some of the tools that interface with the oh so popular twitter.com

One tool that I’ve been appreciating of late is Tweet Later. Tweet Later is one of those tools that really helps you leverage your time… kind of like having your own clone. One of the first things I used tweet later for was to… well… tweet later! ;-)

Here’s what I mean…

Because I work from home I have the flexibility to work with my body rhythms rather than the demands of a schedule set by someone else. This means I tend to be awake quite late into the night and sleeping during the early morning hours. That can pose challenges when there are people I want to connect with who are at their most productive earlier in the morning. With Tweet Later I can schedule tweets to go out whenever I choose. So often, before I turn off my computer for the night… I will go to tweet later and write a tweet to be sent out at say, 9:00 AM.

Now… I am be just waking up at 9:00 AM CST but there are a lot of wonderful people moving and shaking long before that hour of the day. Tweet Later gives me the opportunity to let those people know what I’m up to or give them a heads up about an exciting event happening later in the day… or wahtever remarkable thing I want to share. Then, when I get up to my first cup of coffee while the computer is warming up, I can sit down, go to twitter and hit my @replies and Direct Messages to see if anyone has left a comment or question that I might want to follow up on.

That alone is a valuable feature (I was going to say worth it’s cost alone…but since it costs NOTHING that would be a nonsensical statement for something with HUGE VALUE!) But recently, I’ve come to realize that I’m leaving some benefits on the table.

Tweet Later also offers the terrific ability to set up alerts and track keywords in the public Twitter stream. You enter in the keywords you would like the system to track for you and you will receive periodic emails listing tweets that contain those words. Of course, the value of this is that you will be introduced to the people who are talking about things you share an interest in for whatever reason.

There are a couple more features that I have yet to experience… but already I can tell you that Tweet Later has definitely given me the feeling that I CAN be in two places at one time! Give it a whirl!
